The growing popularity of land-based shark fishing has increased the risk to swimmers of a shark attack. Since beaches are the #1 tourist attraction in most coastal counties, there can be no justification for endangering millions of swimmers and surfers with an activity that is enjoyed by few, and detrimental to the environment.
Sharks, many of them endangered, are caught and released and often die and wash up on shore. Sharks are crucial to our underwater ecosystem and without them, all ocean life is in peril.
